Our inaugural Creative in Residence exhibition saw the Victorian Archives Centre Gallery transformed by Tahlia Palmer’s installation of hypnotic audio-visual compositions. “occupation studies” interrogated the colonial impact on Country through archival records, field research and AI experimentation. It questioned how and why local knowledge built across at least 9000 generations of land and water management were largely dismissed by those with power in settler-colonial society.

The exhibition has now been reconstructed for an online experience, including additional interview footage and information about the archival records in Public Record Office Victoria’s collection that inspired the artworks.
